Therapy dogs visit assisted living facilities, hospitals and similar types of places to provide comfort and joy to people who attend there. Owners must first have obtained the dog they wish to train. The dog must have their CGCA through the AKC or have completed obedience training with Jay’s Friends Dog Training to be eligible for the therapy dog program. The dog must also be evaluated before training begins.

Be aware that acceptance into this program does not guarantee service dog status. Jay’s Friends Dog Training cannot grant the title of therapy dog but rather trains and prepares teams to start working so they can be assessed by a therapy dog organization in future. Therapy dog training is a time consuming process that can costs thousands of dollars. this program will cost over $1000 and there is also a $25 application fee to submit this form.
